Storage of Ion Exchange Resin

1. The Storage of New Resin:
(1) Keep the water content of resin:
While the resin transport from factory, the water content is saturated, during the storage, it must prevent water dry out. If resin is dry out, it must not immerse to water directly, otherwise, it should be immerse to saturated salt solution, make resin expansion slowly, then dilute salt solution gradually. Besides, the storage time could not be so long, it is better less than a year. Especially, the anion resin may reduce exchange capacity obviously because of decomposing of exchange group.
(2)Prevention of freezing and heating:
Environment temperature should not be too high or too low, 5—40℃ is right temperature to storage resin. Avoid sunshine. If resin keeps under high temperature for a long time, it could easily transform, exchange group decomposing. If temperature below 0℃, water inside of resin frozen, volume of resin bigger than before, and resin expand to split and losing exchange capacity.
2. The storage of old resin
(1)Resin transform: usually transform resin to CL type or Na type for long time storage, so it could use salt solution to transform cation and anion resin, cation resin can not storage for long time as Ca or H type.
(2)Wet method storage: If resin is not using in exchange column, keep the resin in water (salt solution is better).
(3) Prevention of mildew: if keep resin for long time in exchanger, the resin surface could easily grow microbion and mildewed, especially under high temperature, therefore, it should change water and use water to wash at regular time, also it could use 1.5% formaldehyde solution(formalin)immerse to sterilization.
