Les zones \u00e0 forte concentration de min\u00e9raux fluor\u00e9s sont appel\u00e9es zones \u00e0 forte teneur en fluor. Lorsque l&rsquo;eau traverse une couche riche en fluor, le fluor s&rsquo;y dissout et se retrouve sous forme de F\u207b, HF\u207b et HF\u2082. La contamination industrielle, par exemple par les industries d&rsquo;aluminium et d&rsquo;engrais phosphat\u00e9s, constitue une autre source de fluor dans la nature. De plus, la combustion du charbon, en lib\u00e9rant du fluor dans l&rsquo;environnement, augmente la concentration de fluor dans l&rsquo;eau et l&rsquo;air. On rapporte que la concentration de fluor dans l&rsquo;eau naturelle atteint plusieurs mg\/l, voire plusieurs dizaines de mg\/l dans certaines r\u00e9gions du pays. Les recherches en toxicologie du fluor indiquent qu&rsquo;une concentration de 115 mg\/l provoque une fluorose dentaire, tandis qu&rsquo;une concentration de 415 mg\/l entra\u00eene une ost\u00e9oporose et des l\u00e9sions des tissus nerveux et des muscles squelettiques. Le fluor diminue \u00e9galement l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 du syst\u00e8me enzymatique et entrave la formation osseuse. La contamination de l&rsquo;eau par le fluor et son \u00e9limination constituent donc un probl\u00e8me majeur. \u00c0 ce jour, les m\u00e9thodes d&rsquo;\u00e9limination du fluor comprennent la coagulation, l&rsquo;adsorption et la technologie membranaire. Cependant, elles pr\u00e9sentent toutes l&rsquo;inconv\u00e9nient d&rsquo;une mauvaise qualit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;eau apr\u00e8s traitement, d&rsquo;une faible capacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9limination du fluor et d&rsquo;un co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9. N\u00e9anmoins, en tirant parti des propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de coordination chimique des ions Al\u00b3\u207a et F\u207b, et en utilisant une r\u00e9sine ch\u00e9latante aminocarboxylique (groupe fonctionnel \u2014CH\u2082\u2014N(CH\u2082COOH)\u2082) capable de fixer les ions Al\u00b3\u207a dans une eau contenant de 2 \u00e0 60 ml\/L de fluor, une \u00e9tape solide-liquide d&rsquo;\u00e9limination du fluor s&rsquo;av\u00e8re efficace. <\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span dir=\"auto\" style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">AL3+ poss\u00e8de un champ de ligands octa\u00e9drique. Apr\u00e8s sa fixation sur la r\u00e9sine, il peut former des complexes insatur\u00e9s. Le site de coordination gauche se combine \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau. Au contact d&rsquo;une eau riche en fluor, il peut remplacer l&rsquo;eau gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 sa forte capacit\u00e9 de coordination entre F- et AL3+, provoquant ainsi une adsorption par \u00e9change de ligands pour fixer F-.
