||||||||||||
| Perchlorate is a persistent, toxic chemical that exists in the forms NH4ClO4 , KClO4 , and NaClO4 . Perchlorate’s primary effect is to inhibit iodine uptake by the thyroid gland, leading to decreased secretion of thyroid hormones and affecting physical development, particularly brain development. Excessive perchlorate consumption leads to thyroid hormone deficiency, which inhibits metabolism and growth, especially in children.Due to perchlorate’s non-evaporation and its high solubility in water, perchlorate cannot be removed by conventional methods such as filtration or precipitation. The best removal method is ion exchange.
ZG D891 is an anion resin containing a quaternary ammonium group [-N(CH3 ) 3OH ] in a styrene-diethylenebenzene copolymer with a macroporous structure. It is used specifically for the removal of perchloric acid and the purification of water supply systems and drinking water; its selectivity for perchlorate is excellent.
